Faulty breathing patterns are characteristic of all the above problems. Breathing re-training aims to achieve physiologically normal, healthy breathing in all aspects of breathing- the depth, rate, rhythm, postural concerns and use of the breathing muscles, nose and mouth. The aim is to re-set the brain's autonomic, unconscious breathing controls to operate at the correct level at all times- at rest and during exercise, awake and asleep. When the brain's control system is re-set to a more normal level, improved breathing is automatically maintained day and night. Research as shown that changing breathing habits can re-set the brain's control system to achieve a range of better health outcomes. Breathing retraining is not an alternative therapy. The ability to achieve satisfying, easy breathing is an essential approach for lasting relief from a wide-range of breathing related conditions. Please call or email for more information or to make an appointment for an assessment of your breathing.

· ●Buteyko Tasmania is a Breathing Education and Training Service that helps people who have symptoms associated with disturbed breathing patterns to breathe well again.
· ●At the first appointment, which takes about 90 minutes, Caroline looks at the way you breathe to find out what's wrong with your breathing pattern and what’s needed to improve it.
· ●She looks at the way you use your diaphragm, the speed of your breathing, its regularity and depth.
· ●She uses specific Breathing Retraining techniques to help you breathe correctly. After this first session, people may already have a clearer nose and be more relaxed. Some people find that they sleep better even that first night.
· ●At the first appointment, recommendations for any further breathing training will be made. If it is advisable that you have further sessions, the the best options for your individual situation will be discussed. That could be individual sessions or to join a small-group course.
